The Ultimate Fighter Season 13 Finale happens tonight, June 4, 2011, at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, and features the finals for the season 13 welterweights when Tony Ferguson (10-2-0) battles Ramsey Nijem (4-1-0) for a six-figure contract and the right to call themselves The Ultimate Fighter. The co-main event pits former WEC lightweight champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis (13-1-0) against the furious pace of Clay "The Carpenter" Guida (28-11-0) out of Team Jackson. Below you'll find our picks heading into this evening's event, one that promises to have its share of highlights!
Main-card picks:
Chris Cope (4-1-0) vs. Chuck O'Neil (8-3-0)
The season 13 semi-finalists will put on a competitive bout, but watch for O'Neil to utilize his stronger wresting ability and tight combinations in scramble situations to pull out a unanimous decision victory.
Fabio Maldonado (18-3-0) vs. Kyle Kingsbury (10-2-0)
Look for Maldonado out of Team Nogueira to use his superior boxing ability and experience in the cage to walk away with a late TKO victory as he adds another TUF alumnus name to his growing resume. Maldonado will make it 12 consecutive wins tonight, and it won't be long before a step-up in competition is in order.
Ed Herman (21-9-0) vs. Tim Credeur (12-3-0)
Neither of these men have competed inside the octagon since late 2009, but it will be Credeur in this case that pulls out a submission win as "Short Fuse" has a tendency to get caught from time to time; Herman although determined, will prove more rusty coming off a serious knee injury that saw him sidelined for an extended period.
Anthony Pettis (13-1-0) vs. Clay Guida (28-11-0)
Pettis has been here before, except the similar style of Benson Henderson proves more dynamic than the work-man like efforts that Guida puts out time and time again. It may take time for Pettis to find his range, but make no mistake, he will; the pick here is "Showtime" Pettis via decisive victory or late TKO stoppage either in the latter half of round two or three.
TUF Season 13 Final
Tony Ferguson (10-2-0) vs. Ramsey Nijem (4-1-0)
The Season 13 Final should prove an exciting one as both men look to push the pace and showcase their development since filming the series. Ferguson will have a little too much in the way of refined striking and experience here, as he takes a three-round decision victory that sees him become the newest ultimate fighter.
