MMA Combat - Struve vs. Barry Added to UFC Live 6

MMA Combat - Struve and Barry Added to UFC Live 6

The UFC announced Tuesday that heavyweights Pat Barry (6-3-0) and Stefan Struve (21-5-0) will square off later this fall, October 1, at UFC Live 6 in Washington D.C.. The event will air live on Versus, and feature a bantamweight title fight when "Mighty Mouse" Demetrious Johnson (9-1-0) challenges reigning 135lbs champ, Dominick Cruz (18-1-0).

Barry last competed at UFC Live 4 on June 26, 2011, in what was perhaps the most dramatic first round of action in the history of the UFC's heavyweight division. Ultimately, Frenchman Cheick Kongo won the night, knocking Barry out with a counter-uppercut at 2:39, in a thrilling come from behind effort. Trading wins with losses, Barry is 3-3 inside the octagon heading into this scheduled bout, and desperately needs a good showing if he wants to remain in the UFC ranks.

Dutch "Skyscraper" Stefan Struve has finished 14 opponents by way of submission in 21 professional wins; the 23-year old out of North Holland last appeared May 28 at UFC 130 - Rampage vs. Hamill where he was knocked-out by slugger Travis Browne at 4:11 of round 1. Now 5-3 with the promotion, Struve's biggest concern is his tendency to drop his hands and take big shots, which is an issue that should come to the forefront of training camp when paired with one of the division's premier strikers.
