MMA Combat - Gegard Mousasi vs. Ovince St. Preux On for Strikeforce, December 17
Strikeforce announced Tuesday via their official twitter account that former 205lbs champion Gegard Mousasi (31-3-2) will collide with rising star and former Tennessee Volunteers linebacker, Ovince St. Preux (11-4-0) December 17, 2011.
Little else is currently known about the card or location for the event, but rumors persist that lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez (19-2-0) will defend his belt that night as well when he battles #1 contender Jorge Masvidal (22-6-0).
Mousasi (26) is undefeated in his previous four outings since losing his Strikeforce belt to Muhammed "King" Lawal via unanimous decision in April of 2010. He last competed under the DREAM banner on July 16, successfully defending his promotion title against Japanese Judoka Hiroshi Izumi with a first round TKO.
St Preux (28) made his Strikeforce debut the night Mousasi lost his title to Lawal, defeating Chris Hawk via TKO to move his record to 5-4. The Knoxville MMA representative has since compiled six more wins, making it eight straight with each of the last four coming inside the Strikeforce promotion.
