MMA Combat - Rocha vs. Cerrone on for UFC 131, Clementi faces Aoki at Dream 17

Tuesday night the UFC announced that TUF season 6 winner Mac Danzig (20-8-1) has been forced to pull out of his UFC 131 bout vs. Donald Cerrone (14-3-0) citing an injury suffered during training. Replacing Danzig at the event will be promotion newcomer Vagner Rocha (6-1-0).

A veteran of both Bellator and Strikeforce, Rocha last competed May 7th at Mixed Fighting Alliance – New Generation 5 where he posted a first round submission victory over Jacob Clark; four of his six professional career wins have come by way of submission. Rocha’s counterpart, “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone, is a submission specialist himself with twelve of fourteen wins coming via tap-out. Cerrone is a winner in three-straight appearances, and looks to make it 2-0 inside the octagon this summer in Vancouver, Canada.

Across the pond in Japan, Dream FC announced that Antonio McKee would not be making the trip to the Saitama Super Arena, and Dream 17 to face top-ten talent Shinya Aoki (27-5-0); rather, UFC veteran Rich Clementi (40-19-1) will fill the void on late notice, but stay-tuned as the past two weeks have been a game of musical chairs in regards to a solidified opponent for “Tobikan Judan.”

So far, Jamie Varner, Antonio McKee, Shane Nelson, and now Clementi have all been reported participants for the event. Clementi last competed April 30, 2011, at Superior Challenge 7 – Rise of Champions in Stockholm, Sweden, where he dropped a unanimous decision to Reza Madadi.
