Muhammed "King" Lawal Released by Strikeforce - MMA Combat

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal was released by the promotion on Tuesday following comments the fighter made via twitter about a member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

“I honestly feel like Lundvall was a racist bitch [for] asking me if I can read or speak English,” Lawal wrote. “Go on somewhere with that bulls--t, bitch!”

Lawal posted his comments in the aftermath of a hearing held earlier that day concerning a drug test the wrestling standout failed when he defeated Lorenz Larkin this past January 7, at Strikeforce - Rockhold vs. Jardine. Lawal went on to defend his position, stating the reason he took particular offense to the questions asked by Pat Lundvall.

"Its funny how people are tryna say that I'm callin the commission racist. No!! They aren't. But there was one person on the panel that was out of line with the question she asked me. I found it insulting, prejudice, and a lil racist. I say racist from my past experiences, I have been asked that in the past as an insult."

The American Kickboxing Academy product went 3-1 inside Strikeforce, losing only to Brazilian talent Rafael Cavalcante by third round TKO in his first title defense after defeating Gegard Mousasi to capture promotion gold in 2010. Six of Lawal's eight career wins have come by [T]KO and five of those inside the first round.
